Hello, It is actually good advice to have some protein with every meal for two main reasons.
One reason is because of the link with a brain chemical called Serotonin. If we have low levels of Serotonin, then we may experience problems with increased depression and poor impulse control. And our bodies need a good supply of protein to make Tryptophan, which is necessary to make Serotonin. You can find out more here:
http://www.coping-with-binge-eating.com/serotonin.html

Also, it takes longer for our body to digest protein than most carbohydrates, so having some protein with every meal can help to keep us feeling fuller for longer, and therefore help keep hunger at bay! Of course, try to ensure it is good quality protein and not in a form that comes with a lot of saturated fats (such as fried chicken from a fast food outlet or similar).

Lastly, regarding breakfast. Are you binge eating at night or late in the evening? If you are, this may explain why you are not hungry in the morning. Persevere with having a breakfast as regular eating throughout the day is one of the first parts in breaking free from Binge Eating problems. It helps to wake up your system and boost your metabolism. As you progress with returning to more normal eating patterns, then you may find you are more able to face having a breakfast.

One way to get a bit of protein in your breakfast could be to have some low fat yoghurt with a few chopped nuts or seeds sprinkled on top. Or a simple boiled egg with bread fingers, or a couple of sardines on toast. It doesn't have to be a large breakfast, and anything can be better than nothing to get started with.

So welcome to our website and Im sure you will find a lot more useful information as you explore our pages,

Best Wishes
